Walnut Lowboy

Standing on magnificent cabriole legs with possible ‘Green Man’ features on the knees leading to ball and claw feet.
The Green Man
Throughout England, as medieval buildings started to be built, men carved faces into wood and stone. These small, fantastic little men peeped out from the carved foliage. The faces, in the midst of leaves, have been named the ‘Green Man’.
The Green Man first started to appear in England in the 12th century. Later, furniture makers used their chisels to carve the Green Man in English furniture, such as sideboards, desk and lowboys.
